Fire Extinguishers

The Oregon Fire Code requires all commercial occupancies to provide a minimum of one approved fire extinguisher. Below are the requirements to reference when purchasing an extinguisher for your commercial occupancy.

• The minimum size required is a 2A:10BC (5 pound) extinguisher
• The extinguisher is required to be mounted in a conspicuous location where it is readily accessible and immediately available for use
• The extinguisher must be mounted to higher than 5-feet (60 inches) from the ground and no lower than 4 inches above the ground
• The maximum travel distance to reach an extinguisher is 75-feet
• The Oregon Fire Code requires a Class K extinguisher be provided within 30-feet of travel distance from any commercial cooking appliances involving solid fuels, oils, or fats.
